NTPC Ltd, the largest power produce in the country is planning to build cement plants near its power stations to make use of the fly ash generated from its thermal plants. The company may set up plants with annual capacity of one million tonne or more and it has invited expression of interest (EoI) from cement makers, offering a partnership for developing the proposed cement plants. The plant will be constructed on build, own, operate (BOO) basis. NTPC may provide the developer with land, water and power needs. The selected company will have to sign a long-term agreement for sourcing ash from NTPC and will also be responsible for marketing of products.
