About the Company :

Berger Paints Ltd started its journey as Hadfield’s (India) Ltd in Howrah, West Bengal prior to India independence. By the close of 1947,Hadfield’s was acquired by British Paints (Holdings) Limited, UK and came to be known as British Paints (India) Limited. In 1983, it became part of the worldwide Berger group and thereby acquired its present name – Berger Paints India Limited. Presently, the majority stake is with the Delhi based Dhingra brothers.

In August 2017, the company is planning an major expansion programme. It plans to set up an emulsion unit in Howrah, Kolkata with an investment of Rs. 400 million, while another Rs 200 million will be used towards setting up a colorant unit at Rishra. Its plant in Jejuri will also receive an investment of Rs. 600 million.

In June 2018, the company is setting up a joint venture with Rock Paint Co of Japan , where Berger will hold 51% share. The company will set up a new company in name and style of ‘Berger Rock Paints Pvt Ltd ‘ in India and Nepal to market superior automotive refinish paints.
